Pro-Clinton super-PAC has $45 million in bank

A major super-PAC backing Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has raised $35 million over the last seven months, swelling its bank account to $45 million.

Of that haul, $25 million was raised in the last six months of 2015, with another $10 million coming in January, an official confirmed to The Hill.

{mosads}That total puts Priorities USA Action, which supported Barack Obama in 2012, ahead of its pace from that election cycle, the group acknowledged in a memo released Friday.

“We have raised significantly more resources than at this point in 2012, built a team of our Party’s strongest leaders and activists, and are developing cutting edge strategies to reach Democratic and undecided voters in every battleground state,” co-chairman Guy Cecil wrote in the memo.

“Hillary Clinton has spent her entire life fighting for us. Now it’s time to fight for her. With your help, Priorities is ready for what’s ahead.”

The New York Times first reported on the group’s 2015 fundraising totals, as well as the memo from Cecil.

The memo also claims another $42 million in future commitments from donors.

While Clinton is locked in a tense battle with rival Bernie Sanders in the early-voting states of Iowa and New Hampshire, Priorities has had the luxury of focusing largely on fundraising for the general election campaign, which is expected to be massively expensive.

It’s an enviable position compared to that of the Republican super-PACs, which have spent millions during the GOP primary race so far.

The pro-Clinton group has launched smaller ad campaigns backing Clinton, including at least $100,000 for digital ads in Iowa responding to attacks from GOP groups such as Karl Rove’s American Crossroads. But overall, its spending has been relatively meager.
