Ways and Means changes schedule because of snowstorm
House Ways and Means Committee Republicans are pushing back their schedule in anticipation of a massive snowstorm that is bearing down on the Washington region and is expected to cripple the city for several days.
Committee Chairman Kevin Brady (R-Texas) is moving the first hearing of the year, originally scheduled for Tuesday, to Feb 2 at 10 a.m.
{mosads}The panel is also pushing its GOP issues retreat from Monday to Tuesday from 12:30 to 6:30 p.m., an aide told The Hill.
The hearing is expected to cover a wide range of economic issues from taxes and trade.
On Thursday, House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy’s (R-Calif.) office canceled Monday’s scheduled votes and pushed them back until 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
The schedule change narrows an already short week. House lawmakers are only scheduled to be in session through Wednesday so Democrats can head out for their party retreat in Baltimore.
