Dems: GOP is the party of Trump, Palin
Democrats are wasting no time in going on attack against Republicans over the political pairing of Donald Trump and Sarah Palin.
Minutes after news broke of Palin’s endorsement of Trump, the Democratic National Committee described the GOP as the party of Trump and Palin, ripping the former Alaska governor as a “failed” vice presidential nominee in 2008 and seeking to link both to the rest of the GOP.
{mosads}“Even with a record number of candidates and internal calls to become more inclusive as a party, Donald Trump and Sarah Palin remain two of the GOP’s most influential leaders,” DNC spokesman Mark Paustenbach said in a statement.
“Their divisive rhetoric is now peddled by everyone from Ted Cruz to Marco Rubio. Americans deserve better than what Trump and Palin have to offer, but it seems like the other Republican candidates would rather follow in their footsteps.”
The DNC highlighted comments Trump and Palin have made about Muslim Americans; Palin has thrown her support behind the GOP presidential front-runner’s proposal for a temporary ban on Muslims entering the United States.
She is expected to formally endorse the real estate mogul’s presidential bid at a Tuesday night rally in Iowa.
