GOP leaders unveil tax bill language
A package that extends and cements expired and expiring tax breaks was released just before midnight Tuesday, setting the stage for a Thursday vote.
The bill, called the Protecting Americans From Tax Hikes Act of 2015, will keep several popular provisions for both businesses individuals on the books indefinitely. It extends other tax breaks through 2019 or 2016.
Under House rules, a bill posted on Tuesday could be put to a vote on Thursday at the earliest. The tax package was negotiated along with a $1.1 trillion omnibus spending bill, but that bill wasn’t posted by the end of Tuesday.
