Bush insists Trump won’t get nomination
Jeb Bush was definitive Sunday in predicting that there is no way Donald Trump wins the GOP presidential nomination.
The former Florida governor, who is trying to rejuvenate his own presidential campaign, dismissed Trump as “not a serious candidate,” while trying to explain the businessman’s lingering popularity at the top of GOP primary polls.
{mosads}“He’s a gifted politician. He connects with people’s angsts and angers,” Bush said on ABC’s “This Week.”
But Bush said he saw no way voters would eventually agree that Trump should be the GOP’s standard bearer in the run for the White House.
“Donald Trump is not going to get the nomination. I have enough confidence in early GOP primary voters,” said Bush.
He went on to say his team is doing its best to make inroads in early GOP primary states, where Bush has seen his poll numbers struggle. And he insisted that his emphasis on a positive Republican message would eventually resonate and lead to success at the ballot box.
“I know for a fact that a conservative is not going to win if they don’t have a hopeful, optimistic message,” he said.
