Wednesday: Highway bill, water regulation
House lawmakers are working their way through hundreds of amendments to a long-term infrastructure funding bill as they head toward a final vote on the bill this week.
House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) told lawmakers that they should expect a late night of votes on Wednesday, with 81 amendments expected to be voted on.
{mosads}Separately, lawmakers voted on 45 amendments Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the Senate is expected to take a final vote on legislation from Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) that would stop a controversial Obama administration water regulation.
Ernst is moving her resolution disapproving the Environmental Protection Agency’s Waters of the United States rule under the Congressional Review Act, a rarely used tactic that allows for a simple majority to disapprove of any regulation without a 60-vote threshold.
The EPA rule has gotten pushback from Republicans and some Democrats, who suggest the agency is overreaching on its regulatory authority.
