Wednesday: Budget deal

House lawmakers are expected to take up a two-year budget deal, paving the way for it to be sent to the Senate later this week.

The agreement, which would also raise the debt ceiling, was rolled out earlier this week ahead of a Nov. 3 deadline to avoid a default and a mid-December deadline to avert a government shutdown.

{mosads}While the plan has gained some conservative opposition, Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), who is expected to be the next speaker, backed the proposal and it’s expected to pass the House on Wednesday.

House lawmakers will also take up border security legislation, and a separate proposal on improving social media capabilities for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

Timing of votes in the House is still to be determined.

Senators will spend Wednesday morning in morning business, with no votes currently expected in the Senate for Wednesday. Senators are expected take up the budget deal after it passes the House.
