Dem rep needles Christie over quiet car incident

Democratic Rep. Charlie Rangel (N.Y.) on Monday needled Chris Christie after the Republican presidential candidate was reportedly asked to leave Amtrak’s quiet car.

Rangel tweeted that unlike Christie, “I keep quiet in quiet car & blend my own smoothie w/ real fruit (tho it 2 may not go smoothly),” including a short video of the congressman attempting to make a smoothie.

A train conductor on a Sunday ride from Washington to New York reportedly asked the New Jersey governor, who held a McDonald’s smoothie and was heard speaking on his phone, to lower his voice or leave the quiet car.

“After breaking the cardinal rule of the quiet car, the Governor promptly left once he realized the serious nature of his mistake and enjoyed the rest of his time on the train from the cafe car,” a Christie spokesperson later told The Hill.

Rangel has used his smoothie-maker before to tweak Republicans, including earlier this month on the day that Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) abruptly withdrew from the Speaker race, forcing House Republicans to scramble for another viable candidate.
