Carson not interested in hosting ‘SNL’
At least one presidential candidate doesn’t want to be live from New York.
Ben Carson said Friday that unlike Republican rival Donald Trump, he is not interested in guest hosting “Saturday Night Live.”
{mosads}”I think the presidency of the United States is a very serious thing,” the retired neurosurgeon said during an interview with Bloomberg Politics.
“I don’t even want to begin to put it in the lightness of comedy,” Carson added in the interview for Bloomberg’s “With All Due Respect.”
Trump is slated to host “SNL” on Nov. 7, and Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton appeared on the show recently for a skit.
Carson has surged in recent polls and is now leading in the early-voting state of Iowa instead of Trump, who has been atop polls for the past three months.
But he told Bloomberg he’s focused on the issues, not trading jabs with Trump.
“My personal interactions have shown him to be a gentleman,” Carson said, adding, “I think there’s another element sometimes when he’s on camera.”
