Poll: Jeb in third despite ad blitz in NH
A month-long advertising push by his super-PAC in New Hampshire has not helped former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush gain ground in the state, according a new poll.
{mosads}The latest Bloomberg Politics/Saint Anselm New Hampshire survey shows Bush in third place, leading establishment candidates with 10 percent support among likely GOP presidential primary voters, 14 points behind front-runner Donald Trump and one point lower than a poll in May. Retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson received 17 percent support.
Florida Sen. Marco Rubio was in fourth place with 8 percent, followed by Carly Fiorina and Ohio Gov. John Kasich — another candidate who has put much time and effort into New Hampshire — at 7 percent. New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie garnered 5 percent and Sens. Ted Cruz (Texas) and Rand Paul (Ky.) were tied with 4 percent.
The poll, released Wednesday morning, also found that 6 percent would pick Bush as their second choice during the 2016 election cycle.
Trump fares better with 9 percent, while Carson remains the most popular follow-up choice with 15 percent.
Bush additionally scores a 57 percent favorability rating in New Hampshire, his lowest score there since 2014 and one point lower than Trump.
Carson leads the pack with 74 percent favorability, followed by Rubio at 68 percent and former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina at 67 percent.
Pollsters spoke to 400 likely Republican New Hampshire primary voters Oct. 15-18 The new poll has a 4.9 percent margin of error.
