Brady walks back support of Trump

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is distancing himself from comments he made in support of GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump.

Brady previously remarked that it “would be great” if Trump won the presidency but now says his comments were taken out of context.

{mosads}“I try to have fun with certain things, you know, but some things a lot of times get taken out of context,” he told WEEI-FM in Boston on Monday.

Brady said he does not follow politics closely enough to give an informed opinion on the presidential race.

“I don’t even know what the issues are,” he said “I haven’t paid attention to politics in a long time. It’s actually not something that I really even enjoy. It’s way off my radar.” The quarterback said he plans to be less outspoken in the future.

“When you’re speaking publicly and you’ve got a lot of people listening, I think it’s probably in everyone’s best interest in today’s day and age to say as little as possible,” Brady said. “That’s just the way it is and I think the way our culture is right now. Everything is really out there.”

The 2015 Super Bowl MVP said he met Trump while serving as a guest judge at the real-estate mogul’s Miss USA beauty pageant.

Trump has called Brady a “total winner” and voiced support during recent “Deflategate” court proceedings.
