Richard Gere to return to Capitol
WE HEAR: Richard Gere fans who missed the actor’s appearance on Capitol Hill in July are in luck — he’s headed back to Washington for another congressional hearing.
{mosads}Gere, 66, will be on-hand Thursday at a Capitol Visitors Center briefing on the state of homelessness in America, moderated by Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.).
The Golden Globe winner plays a homeless man living in New York City and attempting to reconnect with his estranged daughter in the soon-to-be released film “Time Out of Mind.” Gere will also attend a screening of the drama in Washington on Thursday night.
The “Pretty Woman” star is no stranger to the nation’s capital. Gere, a longtime advocate for human rights in Tibet, testified in July at the Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission’s hearing “Tibet & China: Searching for a New Way Forward.”
