“Call me Caitlyn,” the cover of Vanity Fair’s July issue reads, with a photo of Jenner flashing a slight smile and posing in a white bustier.
“For all intents and purposes, I am a woman,” Jenner, 65, told Diane Sawyer in an April interview.
On Monday, Rep. Mark Takano (D-Calif.) — the first openly gay nonwhite member of Congress — tweeted his support for the former Olympian:
I’m proud of you, @Caitlyn_Jenner! The world loves you already. #CallMeCaitlyn #CaitlynJenner

Rep. Gwen Moore (D-Wisc.) — the first African-American elected to Congress from Wisconsin — also praised Jenner, writing:

President Obama’s senior advisor Valerie Jarrett similarly welcomed Caitlyn to the world, calling her “brave”:
Nice to meet you, @Caitlyn_Jenner. The brave choice to live as your authentic self is a powerful example to so many. https://t.co/Hbh3atbUOy

“Bruce always had to tell a lie. He was always living that lie … Caitlyn doesn’t have any secrets,” Jenner is heard saying in a video released by Vanity Fair.
