Correct the Record, a rapid-response group that’s been promoting Hillary Clinton, will spin off into a stand-alone super-PAC to better coordinate with her presidential campaign.

The group says the new Correct the Record will not make independent expenditures, allowing it to coordinate its strategy directly with campaigns.

Correct the Record is currently housed under the American Bridge super-PAC, which promotes a number of Democrats, not just Clinton.

{mosads}Brad Woodhouse, president of American Bridge, will take the reigns of the new super-PAC. The group’s current head, former Clinton aide Burns Strider, will stay on with Correct the Record as a senior adviser.

“Correct The Record is a strong brand in its own right and now that Democrats are announcing their candidacies, it’s the right time to separate it from American Bridge, which focuses on opposition research on Republicans running for office,” Woodhouse said in a statement.

“Going forward, Correct the Record will work in support of Hillary Clinton’s candidacy for President, aggressively responding to false attacks and misstatements of the Secretary’s exemplary record.”

Former Maryland Lt. Gov. Kathleen Kennedy Townsend (D) will step down from her role at American Bridge to lead Correct the Record’s board of directors, which includes former Clinton strategist James Carville, founder David Brock and liberal donor Susie Tompkins Buell.

The New York Times first reported Correct the Record’s move.
