Republicans Are Filibustering the Biggest Issue (Sen. Christopher Dodd)
We’re not going to have much of a debate I guess, we’re just going to have a filibuster. The idea that you wouldn’t debate a war on the defense budget is a rather unique argument–I don’t know what other bill I’d argue it on where there is a legitimacy of germaneness.
This is a stunning defense by the Republicans for not wanting to bring up the matter, on the defense bill, of the very war in which our soldiers are being subjected to so much difficulty. So I’m mystified by this. It saddens me, really, that we’ve come to this–it’s troubling. It’s the biggest issue of the day and we can’t even have a good debate or discussion.
