Oddmakers give Kim Kardashian outside shot at presidency
Kim Kardashian for president?
Political oddsmakers are giving Kardashian an outside shot — less than 1 percent — at becoming the next president of the United States.
International betting website Paddy Power is placing the odds on a Kardashian White House at 1,000-to-1. That means if Kardashian becomes the first woman to serve as the nation’s president, a bettor who wages $100 would receive $100,000 in return.
{mosads}The star has increasingly involved herself in politics of late. She wrote an op-ed Friday calling on President Obama to use the word “genocide” to describe the massacre of 1.5 million Armenians in 1915.
“I would like President Obama to use the word ‘genocide’,” Kardashian said in a Time magazine story. “It’s very disappointing he hasn’t used it as president. We thought it was going to happen this year.”
Kardashian recently waded into a political debate to call her stepfather Bruce Jenner “courageous” for transitioning to become a woman.
“Love is the courage to live the truest, best version of yourself. Bruce is love. I love you Bruce. #ProudDaughter,” Kardashian posted on Instagram. “It might not always be easy but we support you no matter what! Your honesty has opened the doors for others to be courageous and live an authentic life! #respect #hero #family.”
She declared support for Democrats before the 2014 midterm elections.
Kardashian is not the only celebrity in the mix for the White House. The website also placed slightly better odds on George Clooney at 400-to-1 and Donald Trump at 150-to-1.
Meanwhile, early Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton is the clear favorite to become the nation’s next president with odds of 1.25-to-1, according to SportsBookReview.com.
Republican Jeb Bush trails Clinton with odds of 5-to-1, followed by Sen. Marco Rubio at 9-to-1, Scott Walker at 12-to-1, Chris Christie at 20-to-1, and Ted Cruz at 40-to-1.
One other potential Democratic presidential candidate, Martin O’Malley, comes in with odds of 50-to-1.
