Tuesday: Iran briefing
Secretary of State John Kerry will be on Capitol Hill Tuesday morning to brief lawmakers on the framework deal on Iran’s nuclear program.
He’s expected to meet with House Democrats at 9:30 a.m., and then all senators at 10:30 a.m. Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz is expected to brief lawmakers with Kerry.
{mosads}The Senate will convene at 10 a.m. for leader remarks and morning business, before recessing at 10:30 a.m. for the briefing with Kerry. The Senate will then be in session from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., before recessing for weekly party lunches.
Senators are expected to take votes Tuesday afternoon on a Medicare “doc-fix” deal. Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said Democrats want three amendments to the legislation, which passed the House last month.
Meanwhile, Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) slammed the House proposal Monday afternoon, saying that it would add nearly $200 billion to the country’s debt.
Meanwhile, House lawmakers will convene at 10 a.m. for morning hour and noon for legislative business. They’re expected to take up two pieces of housing legislation, with first votes expected between 1:15 p.m. and 2:15 p.m. Last votes in the House are expected between 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
