Airlines cancel 3K flights during snowstorm

Airlines have canceled 3,654 flights that were scheduled to operate on Thursday as part of the East Coast and Southeast U.S. are being hit with another snowstorm, according to the website FlightAware.com.

Snow fell Thursday morning as far south as Waco, Texas, during the storm, with the Washington, D.C., and New York City areas forecasted to receive between 3 and 5 inches, according to the Weather Channel.

Airlines have responded to the storm, which has been dubbed “Winter Storm Thor” with widespread flight cancellations at major airport hubs like Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport and D.C.’s Ronald Reagan National Airport.

The leading airport for cancellations on Thursday was Dallas/Forth Worth, which had 386 outgoing and 380 inbound flights canceled.

Washington’s Reagan National, Philadelphia International Airport, New York’s LaGuardia and Newark Liberty International airports rounded out the top five on the delay list Thursday.

Another 3,077 flights were delayed because of the storm, according to the site.
