Defeated Dem says he may run again

Outgoing Rep. Steven Horsford (D-Nev.), who lost his reelection bid in an upset earlier this month, says he’s considering a bid to win back his seat.

{mosads}”Yeah, I would consider it,” Horsford tells the Las Vegas Sun.

Horsford got caught up in a very bad election for Democrats nationwide and especially in Nevada, where turnout plunged and Republicans romped. Rep.-elect Cresent Hardy (R-Nev.) beat him 49 percent to 46 percent.

The outgoing congressman also got caught by surprise by a late wave of GOP outside spending — American Crossroads and others dropped roughly $1 million into the Democratic-leaning district in the closing weeks of the race, and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee was forced to spend to try to save his seat.

“I wasn’t running against my opponent,” Horsford said. “Let’s put it that way.”

There has been some grumbling from members of the Congressional Black Caucus that the DCCC didn’t do enough to save Horsford.
