House panels to discuss Ebola, ISIS next week
House hearings on the Ebola outbreak and Islamic extremists are planned for the abbreviated workweek when the chamber reconvenes.
Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Martin Dempsey will testify before the House Armed Services Committee on Thursday about the administration’s response to Sunni extremist group the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS).
{mosads}Congress passed an authorization to arm and train Syrian rebels to fight ISIS in September before adjourning for the seven-week, pre-election recess.
Also Thursday, the House Foreign Affairs Committee will hold a hearing on the Ebola outbreak. Two panels, the House Oversight Committee and House Energy and Commerce Committee, both held hearings over the recess about the administration’s response to Ebola.
Below is a rundown of next week’s hearings:
