NRCC chairman hails ‘strongest House majority in decades’

National Republican Congressional Committee chairman Greg Walden (R-Ore.) declared “the strongest House majority in decades,” celebrating what is shaping up to be the largest GOP majority in more than a half-century.

{mosads}”Tonight, from coast to coast, Republicans earned the trust of the American people with a message about getting things done and providing a check and balance in Washington. This wouldn’t have been possible without fantastic candidates who fit their districts and ran strong campaigns. In January, America will see a stronger and more diverse House majority,” Walden said in an early Wednesday statement.

“Two years ago on Election Night, President Obama stepped down from the stage in Chicago and vowed to do everything he could to once again control the House of Representatives,” Walden said. “President Obama and Nancy Pelosi have failed and now Republicans have the strongest House majority in decades.”

Republicans are on pace to top the 245 seats they laid out as a goal early this year.
