Maffei loses reelection in reprisal of 2010
Rep. Dan Maffei (D-N.Y.) lost reelection Tuesday night against Republican challenger John Katko.
Maffei lost by a 20-point margin to Katko with 85 percent of precincts reporting, according to The Associated Press.
{mosads}The first-term lawmaker’s loss is a reprisal of the last midterm elections in 2010, when Maffei lost to Republican Ann Marie Buerkle. He won the seat in 2012.
Republicans also won New York’s 21st District Tuesday night, bringing their total of House pickups to seven as of 11:30 p.m.
Democrats had only moved one GOP seat into their column, in Florida’s 2nd District.
