Carter grandson goes down in Ga. gov race
Gov. Nathan Deal (R) won a second term in Georgia on Tuesday, beating back a challenge from former President Jimmy Carter’s grandson.
{mosads}Deal had more than 56 percent of the vote when news outlets called the race for him, with 84 percent of precincts reporting.
Democrats had hoped that Jason Carter, a state senator, would be able to push the governor’s race into a runoff. But like Michelle Nunn, the Democratic nominee for Senate, Carter was unable to keep his opponent below the 50 percent threshold.
