Three US airmen missing in Japan

Three U.S. airmen are missing after Typhoon Phanfone struck Okinawa late Saturday.

{mosads}The airmen were washed out to sea from the northwest coast of the Japanese island, according to a statement from Kadena Air Base.

The Japanese Coast Guard and two HH-60 helicopters from the U.S. Air Force base are searching for the airmen, officials said.

An official told NBC News that one body was found, but that was not confirmed.
