Bill Clinton to stump for Dems in NH
Former President Bill Clinton will campaign for Democrats in New Hampshire in October, according to WMUR.
{mosads}Clinton will speak at the Jefferson Jackson Dinner on Oct. 16 in support of the Democratic congressional and gubernatorial candidates. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen is locked in a tough race with Republican Scott Brown.
The last time Clinton was in New Hampshire was in 2012 when he joined President Obama in Concord, leading up to his reelection.
The state, of course, is also the home of the first presidential primary, and the trip comes as Hillary Clinton is preparing for a likely presidential run. Both Clintons were in Iowa on Sunday for retiring Sen. Tom Harkin’s (D-Iowa) final steak fry.
The former president is viewed as more of a help to Democrats than Obama, who’s low poll approval ratings could hurt the party. Clinton has also campaigned for Senate candidates in other states, such as Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s challenger Alison Lundergan Grimes in Kentucky and Georgia businesswoman Michelle Nunn, who faces Republican David Perdue in the fall.
