Norquist wants Paul on his Burning Man ‘dream team’

Grover Norquist says there’s one person in particular he’d like to join him at the annual Burning Man festival: Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.).

The Americans for Tax Reform president, who just survived the scorching Nevada heat at the yearly weeklong fest that ended on Monday, told Fusion of the Kentucky Republican, “I think if he came out here, he’d carry the art vote.”

{mosads}Norquist also has some other lawmakers in mind who he says would be on his Burning Man “dream team,” naming California Republican Reps. Kevin McCarthy, Dana Rohrabacher and Darrell Issa.

At the event, participants “dedicate themselves to the spirit of community, art, self-expression and self-reliance,“ according to its website.

Norquist, the seemingly unconventional Burning Man attendee, called his experience at the gathering “amazing.”

“[It’s] bigger than I could have imagined. … I was at an absinthe bar ‘til two in the morning. Then I woke up at 5:30 a.m. to go look at the sunrise and watch them burn something down,” Norquist, 57, said.

In the interview on Fusion’s “AM Tonight” airing Wednesday, Norquist replies, “Oh, yes. Absolutely,” when asked if he plans on returning to Burning Man next year.
