Rep. Simpson ‘giddy’ after primary win
Rep. Mike Simpson (R-Idaho) could hardly contain his glee the day after winning his primary against a Tea Party opponent.
Simpson piped up Wednesday after Democrats offered a long series of amendments to a transportation spending bill, all of which were defeated with 28 Republicans voting “no.”
{mosads}“I move that we consider the results of this vote apply to all future amendments…then we can just be done,” Simpson told his colleagues.
“I think the gentleman is still giddy,” Appropriations Chairman Hal Rogers (R-Ky.), a good friend of Simpson’s, responded to general laughter in the hearing.
Simpson, an ally of Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio), cruised to a victory on Tuesday night.
