The White House was briefly put on lockdown Tuesday afternoon, after a car trailing a motorcade crossed security barriers on Pennsylvania Avenue.

The Secret Service said they had arrested Mathew Evan Goldstein, a 55-year old white male, in the incident. Goldstein has been charged with unlawful entry and transported to a Metropolitan Police station for processing.

According to ABC News, Goldstein passed the security barrier by trailing a motorcade transporting the first daughters. Tourists were moved off the sidewalk, and fire trucks and ambulances rushed to the scene.

Goldstein’s blue Honda Civic remained parked outside the White House’s north entrance as Secret Service officers conducted a security sweep of the vehicle.

The lockdown lasted approximately one hour, after which staff and reporters were again allowed to move freely around the White House grounds.
