Report: GM recalling 50,000 more cars

 General Motors is recalling an additional 50,000 cars, The Associated Press reports. 

The new recalls are for 2013 Cadillac SRX SUVs that have been found to have a computer error that delays acceleration, according to the report. 

GM has already come under fire for recalling 1.6 million cars because of an ignition switch problem earlier this year. Lawmakers accused GM of purposely waiting to recall older models that were made between 2004 and 2010 to avoid paying for repairs. 

{mosads}The ignition switch recall was not issued until February of this year. GM has also announced another 1.3 million cars have been recalled because of a power steering issue. 

GM reported to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that the problem with the Cadillacs occurs when the cars’ transmissions are shifting from first to second gear at speeds lower than five miles per hour, according to the report. 

The affected vehicles were found to have a lag in accelerating that GM officials said could cause accidents, according to the AP.
