Twitter users blast Pelosi’s foot-washing act as ‘political stunt’
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) took heat from Twitter users who said she was “politicizing Holy Week” by joining a foot-washing ceremony that included two immigrant children.
Pelosi, one of the House’s most vocal advocates for immigration reform, tweeted a photo Thursday of herself holding a pitcher of water and kneeling with an Episcopal bishop in San Francisco.
In the caption she plugged HR-15, an immigration reform bill.

Twitter users pounced on her quickly.
Why was #NancyPelosi in #Episcopalian church washing feet on Maundy Thursday? Did the #Catholic church not allow her? #tcot #Anglican

I guess the local Catholic parishes wouldn't indulge her quest for a photo-op, so @NancyPelosi had to go Episcopal http://t.co/9mMdjI3dRj
