Clinton memoir set for release June 10

Hillary Clinton will publish her new memoir June 10, the former secretary of State’s publisher announced Wednesday.

According to a website set up by her publisher, Simon & Schuster, the book will share “candid reflections about key moments during her time as Secretary of State as well as her thoughts about how to navigate the challenges of the 21st century.”

{mosads}“Just another light summer read,” she recently joked.

The publication of the book has been long expected. The initial announcement of the memoir came nearly a year ago.

Clinton, who is seen as a likely Democratic candidate for president in 2016, has published several other books. The most recent memoir, Living History, was published in 2003.

She gave some insight into the new book and joked about the title during a talk last month at the Association of American Publishers.

At the time, she said writing has not become any easier since leaving public office. She said she wrote the book “longhand” and has saved mountains of old drafts after accusations earlier in her career that a ghostwriter produced her previous narratives.

“In fact, if you see my study at home, you would think it was an episode from ‘The Hoarders’ — the notes, the pages, the drafts. It is amazing,” she said at the time.

Clinton also joked about the title of the book, which has not been disclosed. She said she was taking hints from a recent Washington Post reader contest.

“That actually is a keeper. That’s on the short list,” she said of the eventual contest winner, “The Scrunchie Chronicles: 112 Countries and It’s Still All About My Hair.”
