Fox News cancels Scott Brown’s contract

Fox News canceled its contract with Scott Brown on Friday, the network said, after Brown told them of his move toward a run for Senate in New Hampshire.

{mosads}“Scott Brown’s contributor agreement was officially terminated today once he notified FOX News of his intention to form an exploratory committee to run for U.S. Senate in New Hampshire,” said Bill Shine, the network’s executive vice president, in a statement.

GOP sources confirmed Thursday that Brown would be launching an exploratory committee for a run against Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.), delivering Republicans their best shot at the seat this fall.

Fox stipulates in all of their contracts with political figures that any clear move toward a run, like forming an exploratory committee, will result in immediate termination of the agreement. The former senator had recently renewed his contract, according to the Washington Post.

Brown has not yet publicly indicated when he plans to file, though the Associated Press, which first reported the news, suggested it could come as early as Friday. Brown is scheduled to speak Friday afternoon at a gathering of Republican leaders in Nashua, N.H.
