Rahm Emanuel appoints new transportation chief
Chicago Mayor and former White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel (D) has appointed a new transportation commission, the Chicago Tribune reports.
Emanuel, who served as President Obama’s first chief of staff, tapped Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) Chief Planning Officer Rebekah Scheinfeld to run his city’s transportation department, the paper reported.
{mosads}Scheinfeld will replace former Washington, D.C., Transportation Department head Gabe Klein, who followed Emanuel from Washington to Chicago in 2011.
Klein has been credited with Washington’s successful Capital Bikeshare program, and he sought to replicate the bicycle sharing system in Chicago.
