Kennedy kin unsure of Oswald blame
One of President Kennedy’s nieces on Sunday questioned whether a single gunman shot the former president in Dallas, fueling conspiracy theories as the nation commemorates the 50th anniversary of his death.
“I don’t know,” Kathleen Kennedy Townsend repeated three times on “Fox News Sunday” when asked if she believes Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone.
{mosads}“I’m not going to solve that problem,” said the eldest daughter of slain Attorney General Robert Kennedy. “So what I’m going to do is focus on things I can do to make a difference. That was really a terrible time in our family’s history.”
Kennedy’s assassination has sparked a cottage industry of books and movies questioning whether he was killed as the result of a conspiracy. While the FBI and President Lyndon Johnson’s Warren Commission concluded Oswald acted alone, the 1976 U.S. House Select Committee on Assassinations reached a different conclusion.
