Obama meets young cancer patient who caught 69-yard touchdown

{mosads}Obama spent 15 minutes with the boy, Jack Hoffman, who is recovering from brain cancer; Hoffman’s family; and former Cornhusker Rex Burkhead in the Oval Office on Monday, according to the Lincoln Journal Star.

The Nebraska newspaper reported that during Hoffman’s visit, the president asked the young fan to introduce his family and said he had been following his story on ESPN. The president also gave Hoffman an autographed football with the presidential seal.

“It was a great visit,” Andy Hoffman, Jack Hoffman’s father said.

The visit came a week after Sen. Deb Fischer’s (R-Neb.) resolution by designating Sept. 26 2013 as National Pediatric Brain Cancer Awareness Day passed the Senate.

Fischer helped arrange the meeting with Obama after the Nebraska senator heard Jack’s story, according to Andy Hoffman.

The Hoffman family flew into Washington on Saturday and plans to fly back home on Tuesday.
