Poll: Obama more popular than Jindal in Louisiana

{mosads}Support is higher for Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-La.), who will face reelection next year. Of the voters surveyed, 56 percent said they supported Landrieu, although only 12 percent considered their senator “excellent.”

There were some signs for concern, as well. While 37 percent of those surveyed said they would “definitely” vote for Landrieu in 2014, 34 percent of respondents said they would “definitely” vote for a replacement candidate.

Landrieu has engaged in a high-profile battle with Jindal over the Medicaid expansion available under the president’s signature healthcare law, and it appears that the battle could be wearing on both lawmakers. Voters give the edge to Landrieu, by a 49 to 46 percent margin. But Landrieu’s advantage has dipped from earlier surveys, while voters disapproving of Jindal point to his Medicaid stance.

The survey also showed Louisianans generally dissatisfied with the future of their state. Of those surveyed, nearly half say they believe things are getting worse, while just two in 10 saw things improving.
