Rubio has repeatedly made fun of the moment, which has earned widespread discussion on social media and late night television.
“I mean I needed water, what am I going to do?” Rubio quipped during ABC’s “Good Morning America.” During that and many of his other post-speech interviews, Rubio self-deprecatingly took another swig of water.
“God has a funny way of reminding us that we’re human,” Rubio said.
