Akin still working to retire campaign debt

The county that encompasses Detroit voted overwhelmingly for Obama.

Akin says in his email that Watson’s comments are “exactly what is wrong with this country.”

“Too often, voters choose who they perceive will give them the most, rather than the candidate asking them to sacrifice the most. And it’s that mentality that has set us on the path to becoming the next Greece unless things change,” he says.

Akin lost to McCaskill by more than 15 percentage points.

In a post-script, Akin adds a plea for funds to settle his campaign debt: “We still have a little ground to make up on our campaign debt retirement. I would be incredibly appreciative if you could click here to donate $5 or more today!” he wrote.

It’s unclear how much debt Akin has yet to pay off, though he’s been asking supporters for help on this front since early November.
