Christine O’Donnell considering another run for Senate

Tea party favorite Christine O’Donnell says she is considering another run for Senate from Delaware in 2014.

“I think I owe that to my supporters, to at least consider a run,” said O’Donnell in an interview with Delaware Online published Sunday. 

“People sacrificed. Not only came out of their comfort zone – sacrificed to work hard in order to win the primary. And I think that I owe it to them to give it every consideration,” she added.

{mosads}O’Donnell gained attention after she upset then-Rep. Mike Castle (Del.), who had the support of much of the state’s GOP establishment, in the 2010 Senate primary. She went on to lose the general election to finish out Joe Biden’s Senate term to Democrat Chris Coons by 57 to 40 percent.

Biden had been reelected in 2008, but resigned his seat to serve as vice president. 

O’Donnell’s 2010 campaign attracted national media attention after an earlier clip of her telling television talk show host Bill Maher that she had “dabbled” in witchcraft resurfaced. Her campaign responded with an ad where she said she was “not a witch.”

Earlier this year, O’Donnell endorsed Mitt Romney, the GOP nominee, for president and said she would consider an offer to work in his administration. 

“Who knows?” O’Donnell said, when asked about her political future in an interview with New York Magazine. “I have to continue to help Gov. Romney in any way that I can. Whether or not I would actually work in the administration depends, again, on what role, on what capacity, and what else was going on in my own career at the time.”
