South Carolina Rep. Clyburn: I watch elections alone
Many lawmakers and political operatives view Election Day as a big party, especially if their team comes up big. But Rep. James Clyburn (D-S.C.) is not one of them.
Clyburn prefers to be alone on election night, he told ITK earlier this year.
{mosads}“I always watch election returns in private,” the affable Democrat said.
He explained that even when he’s home, he goes into another room, shuts the door and doesn’t take calls.
Clyburn’s penchant to be reclusive on the first Tuesday of November in even years is out of character. The third-ranking Democrat in the House is known to be quite social in his caucus, especially on the golf course.
The 2012 election is 103 days away.
