The president’s economic agenda has been dubbed Bidenomics, which involves his vision to build the economy from the bottom up and middle out and vowing to not raise taxes of people making less than $400,000 a year.

Biden took office during the COVID-19 pandemic and quickly signed the American Rescue Plan. The administration says it led to strong jobs recovery and the lowest child poverty rate in history, while Republicans said it added to inflation.

Biden has touted himself as the most pro-union president in U.S. history and has largely enjoyed support for major unions, especially for the manufacturing jobs legislation he signed during his first two years in office has created.

Biden has fought to make the U.S. response to Ukraine part of his lasting legacy and he has touted his leadership on the global stage in getting aide to Ukraine while condemning Russia’s invasion.

A major bruise on Biden’s first year in office was the chaotic withdrawal of U.S. troops from Afghanistan in August 2021, which involved the death of 13 servicemembers in Kabul during the evacuation.

Biden took office with the goal to end former President Trump’s America First policy and he ran in 2016 as the expert on foreign policy after serving in the Senate. He often hails that America is back on the global stage.

The president’s Inflation Reduction Act is the largest investment in climate funding in U.S. history and includes provisions for tax credits to buy electric vehicles and to install solar panels.

During his administration, the U.S. faced record-breaking heat, extreme weather, and climate disasters from flooding to hurricanes, that the president attributes to climate change.

Biden has made fighting for reproductive rights a staple of his presidency. He has called for codifying Roe v. Wade protections, and taken steps unilaterally to preserve rights to medication abortions and health care privacy.

Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act included a provision for Medicare price negotiation and a provision to cap the cost of insulin at $35 a month, among other provisions to cut health care costs.

Biden has faced questions over his own health, as the oldest person to serve. Biden’s doctor has declared the incumbent healthy.
