Cruz: Congress not as deadly as ‘House of Cards’
Sen. Ted Cruz says the real-life version of Congress isn’t quite as deadly as the fictional one depicted in “House of Cards.”
The Texas Republican tells TMZ.com of the Netflix series, “Thankfully, it’s captivating, but it’s not real life. There are, I’m pleased to tell you, fewer murders in real politics than in ‘House of Cards.’ ”
{mosads}The third season of the popular political thriller, which stars Kevin Spacey as a sinister congressman-turned-president, was released on Friday. Cruz says he might be a little busy for the next few days: “When it comes out, for three, four days, I sit down with my iPad and watch the whole series.”
And although he praises Spacey as doing a “phenomenal job,” he says the Academy Award winner’s wife on the show, Robin Wright, is the highlight for him.
“Robin Wright is the ‘Princess Bride,’ ” Cruz explained, referencing the 1987 family-friendly flick, “and that’s my favorite movie ever. So I love ‘House of Cards.’ ”
