Apple’s Tim Cook meets with lawmakers in DC

Apple CEO Tim Cook met with lawmakers in Washington, D.C., on Friday to speak on tech issues and reforming the tax code.

Sens. Rob Portman (R-Ohio), Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) and Mark Warner (D-Va.) tweeted out pictures with Apple chief executive.

On Thursday night, Cook and Lisa Jackson, Apple’s vice president of environment, policy and social initiatives, dined with Trump’s daughter Ivanka and her husband Jared Kushner, a senior White House adviser, Politico reported.

In December, the Apple CEO joined other top tech executives in a meeting with Donald Trump at Trump Tower, which he defended in an internal memo to Apple employees.

“I think it’s very important to do that because you don’t change things by just yelling,” Cook wrote. “You change things by showing everyone why your way is the best. In many ways, it’s a debate of ideas.”
