UK Labour leader hits back at Trump: We love our health system

United Kingdom Labour Party Leader Jeremy Corbyn fired back at President Trump for claiming that a British protest surrounding the country’s National Health Service (NHS) was because their “system is going broke and not working.”

“Wrong. People were marching because we love our NHS and hate what the Tories are doing to it,” Corbyn tweeted in response to Trump. “Healthcare is a human right.”

{mosads}Trump had tweeted about the protest earlier Monday to argue against Democrats’ push for universal health care.

However, the London protest was against funding cuts to the U.K.’s health-care system.

Prior to Trump’s tweet, former U.K. Independence Party leader Nigel Farage appeared on “Fox & Friends” to discuss the march, according to BuzzFeed.

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) has long pushed for a single-payer health-care system to be implemented in the U.S. and introduced a “Medicare for all” bill last year. The legislation earned support from top Democrats, including Sens. Kamala Harris (Calif.) and Cory Booker (N.J.), who are also considered possible 2020 presidential candidates for the party.

Republicans repeatedly attempted, but failed, to repeal and replace ObamaCare during Trump’s first year in office. However, they did repeal the health-care law’s individual mandate in the GOP tax plan passed late last year.
