Rand Paul: ‘I don’t think we’re getting anywhere with the bill we have’
Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) on Sunday said he doesn’t think the Senate is getting anywhere with its plan to repeal and replace ObamaCare.
“I don’t think we’re getting anywhere with the bill we have,” he said on “Fox News Sunday.”
“We’re at an impasse,” he said. “So right now this bill, which is not a repeal, has become the kitchen sink.
{mosads}”The bill is just being lit up like a Christmas tree full of billion-dollar ornaments,” he added.
Paul suggested that the ObamaCare repeal and replace bills be separated.
“Let’s do clean repeal like we’ve promised,” he said.
“You can have a simultaneous bill or a concurrent bill that they can call replace.”
Paul said he wants repeal to work.
“And the way you do it is you separate it into two bills and you do it concurrently,” he said.
When asked whether he thinks the Senate should work through its August recess to get the healthcare bill done, Paul said, “I’d rather get it done even before that.”
Paul has been a vocal critic of the Senate’s healthcare bill.
Senate Republicans decided last week to delay a vote on their healthcare bill after it became clear it lacked the votes for passage.
