Conservative group will key-vote against ObamaCare repeal bill

Heritage Action will negatively score votes in favor of the House’s ObamaCare repeal bill, the conservative group said Tuesday. 

The House is set to vote on the GOP health plan Thursday. The measure is opposed by many conservatives because it does not repeal ObamaCare’s regulations and insurer requirements. 

Heritage has called for a complete repeal of ObamaCare using the legislation that passed Congress in 2015, which would have eliminated funding for the Medicaid expansion, subsidies and taxes. 

Heritage Action uses key votes to rate lawmakers on certain issues. 

For example, members of the conservative House Freedom Caucus score the highest on Heritage’s scorecard, while more centrist Republicans score lower. 

Rep. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.), chairman of the Freedom Caucus, said there are enough no votes to sink the bill when it comes to the floor Thursday. 

He and another Freedom Caucus member Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) were still opposed to the bill following the GOP conference with President Trump Tuesday morning.
