McConnell pressing bill to block climate rule
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said he plans to introduce legislation next week that would block the Obama administration’s signature climate regulation on power plants.
The Kentucky Republican said his legislation would prevent the Environmental Protection Agency from implementing carbon emissions limits on coal-fired power plants.
{mosads}”I have long fought against Obama’s War on Kentucky coal, and I will continue to fight back by introducing legislation next week on behalf of our coal miners and Kentucky families to stop Obama from imposing this national energy tax,” McConnell said in a statement Friday.
Movement on such legislation in the upper chamber is highly doubtful with midterms in November, and a Democratically controlled Senate.
Still, Republicans are expected to fight the regulation, which the administration is set to announce Monday, tooth and nail.
