US military drops food, meals to Iraqi refugees
The Pentagon is releasing images from a U.S. military airdrop of food and water on Saturday in northern Iraq, where thousands of Iraqi citizens are threatened by the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS).
U.S. Central Command said the airdrop near Sinjar, Iraq, conducted from multiple airbases, included one C-17 and two C-130 cargo aircraft.
The aircraft dropped a total of 72 bundles of supplies including 3,800 gallons of fresh drinking water and more than 16,000 meals ready to eat.
