President Trump often calls Sean Hannity after his show on Fox News, The Los Angeles Times reported on Tuesday, citing a source close to the White House.

“The president has started to call people more on the weekends, from the cellphone, which he didn’t used to do,” the source told the newspaper, saying Trump often calls Hannity after the host’s nightly show.

Trump has reportedly begun to place more private phone calls as tensions rise with chief of staff John Kelly, who has attempted to bring order to Trump’s White House, the newspaper reported.

“Every time it says on MSNBC or CNN, which you know he watches, ‘This is the adult. … Thank God they stopped him,’ it all gets to him,” the source said.

Trump sent two tweets late Tuesday slamming “fake news” that his chief of staff would soon be ousted, saying Kelly is “doing a FANTASTIC job for me, and more importantly, for the USA!”

Hannity has been a top ally for Trump stretching back to the campaign. The Fox News host will interview Trump on his show Wednesday night.

According to the Times, Hannity has told Trump that he needs to take a harder line on immigration after Trump reached an agreement with Democrats to extend protections for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program recipients without including funding for his border wall.

Trump unveiled a lengthy list of demands to be featured in DACA legislation on Sunday night, including border wall funding.

The White House disputed the report that Hannity advises Trump, telling the Times that Trump “always had a robust list of outside advisers in business and politics because he is open minded and ultimately wants to do the right thing for the country.”
