Giuliani: Trump ‘discussed at any length’ on a dozen Cohen recordings

President Trump’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani said Sunday that Trump is discussed at some length on a dozen tape recordings made by the president’s former longtime attorney, Michael Cohen.

Giuliani said on CBS’s “Face the Nation” that Trump’s legal team is aware of 183 separate conversations that Cohen recorded. Of those, he said Trump is “discussed at any length” on 11 or 12, and is only recorded on one tape.

CNN aired audio of that recording last week. The audio features Cohen and Trump discussing possibly purchasing the rights to the account of a former Playboy model’s alleged affair with Trump in 2006.

Giuliani added Sunday that there are “an untold number of other tapes that have no relation to us.”

Giuliani’s comments Sunday are his most detailed to date on how many Cohen recordings pertain to Trump.

A special master reviewing materials the FBI seized from Cohen’s apartment, hotel room and office said in a court filing earlier this month that federal prosecutors received 12 audio tapes from Cohen, though their contents are unclear.

The former New York City mayor, who is Trump’s lead attorney in special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia probe, continued to wage attacks on Sunday against Cohen’s credibility amid heightened speculation that he may turn on the president.

Giuliani, who previously described Cohen as an “honorable lawyer,” said Sunday his opinion has changed after learning about the recordings.

“I don’t see how you can believe Michael Cohen,” Giuliani said.

Cohen is reportedly under investigation in New York’s Southern District for bank fraud and campaign finance law violations.
